Marketing Sheet Copy Origination (MSCO)
Activity available under: Marcoms Accelerator, Content Creation, Media Communications and Marketing Management services.
Scope: up to 400 words (per side)
Credit value: 5 per side
Description
In this context a ‘marketing sheet’ might be:
- a product/data sheet (showing benefits, features and providing technical specifications);
- a product family/range overview sheet;
- a corporate backgrounder (i.e., company history); or
- a technology backgrounder; or
- a guide (e.g., a ‘How to…’ document).
Definition
‘Origination’ means a great deal of the copy is written from scratch; from interviews and background reading/research. Some copy (blocks of text, terms, phrases etc.) may be reproduced word-for-word from source material in some cases; to ensure accuracy and the use of correct terminology. Compared to a ‘Rework’, more time is allowed for interviews, background reading/research and copy approval.
The Process
Time is set aside for the interviewing of the appropriate people in your organisation. Depending on the type of marketing sheet being originated, personnel might include you, your product specialists, your design engineers, your sales and BD executives and senior management.
You are responsible for the provision of images, photos and diagrams (at suitable resolution) that may be required. Minor image manipulation is included within the scope of this activity.
You are also responsible for providing us with your corporate house-style for copywriting. If you do not have a formal house-style, we will follow ours (available upon request).
Copy will be produced under strict version control, and towards the end of the process, you will be asked to approve a specific draft version or supply an amended version that will be taken to be fully approved.
Once your design studio (in-house or appointed) has laid out the marketing sheet we will work with you or them to ensure everything fits as planned. If necessary, we can revisit the copy TWICE, trimming where necessary or adding additional detail where required (now that you have seen the layout).
When you approve a specific draft version from your design studio (under their procedures) than that constitutes the end of the activity from Declaration’s perspective.
The Deliverable
This will be a Word document with embedded low-resolution images (and possibly ‘studio instructions’) to simply/guide page-layout. In this last respect, the studio might be personnel you have in-house or a design agency with which you have engaged.
Additional
If more words are required, the draw will increase by 1 credit per additional 100 words but we strongly advise against exceeding 400 words of any form of marketing sheet (as it is meant to be as much visual/graphical as it text).
We can create graphics and images for the marketing (see Artwork) and we can also source stock images/photography at cost.
If you have not got an in-house design studio, or do not engage with one often enough to consider them a regular supplier, we can take care of the design for you. This has the added advantage of a speedier end product because fewer people are involved in the process and less time is spent conveying instructions (or having to revisit the design if instructions are misinterpreted).
