PowerPoint Presentation Repurpose (PPTR)

Activity available under:  Content Creation, Media Communications and Marketing Management services.

Scope: up to 16 slides

Credit value: 8

Description

A presentation prepared in Microsoft PowerPoint (Office 365 version).

Definition

‘Rework’ means at least three quarters of the slides come from an existing presentation and require just minor alterations. The remaining slides will be developed from scratch; originated – but the overall activity is considered a ‘rework’.

Background material may be referred to during the creation process (i.e. background reading/research) and reproduced word-for-word in some cases (to guarantee accuracy/consistency). Compared to a ‘Origination’, less time is allowed for interviews, background reading/research and approval.

The Process

The presentation is typically generated against a verbal brief. In some cases, a written brief may be supplied/required. For example, if the presentation is required for a seminar or a workshop the event organiser will probably specify that the presentation provides advice and guidance, include examples and that sales pitches be limited to a single slide (if allowed at all). They may also stipulate the maximum number of slides and a ‘run time’. If they stipulate that one of their templates must be used, this activity may need to become an Origination.

The creation process will include an interview with you or one of you colleagues, but (as is the case with an article) not a customer or third party (unless by separate arrangement).

You are responsible for the provision of your corporate PowerPoint template (in the absence of one from an event organiser), images, photos and diagrams (at suitable resolution) that may be required. Minor image manipulation is included within the scope of this activity.

The material will be produced under strict version control and, towards the end of the process, you will be asked to approve a specific draft version or supply an amended version that will be taken to be fully approved.

The Deliverable

A PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes. These will include markers to let you know when to trigger animations (e.g. text and images appearing).

In the absence of a brief, we will use our standard flow of:

  • theme/topic page (which will present a benefit);
  • agenda;
  • introduction (a bit about the presenter – what qualifies them to speak)
  • segments
  • summary
  • call to action and contact details (which stay on screen for a Q&A)

We steer clear of ‘Death by PowerPoint’ at all costs. There is nothing worse than attending a presentation during which the presenter is simply reading from the slides. Slides should support what the presenter is saying.

We will practice and time the presentation to give you an indication of the run time.

Additional

While we’ve indicated the process will not typically involve your customers or third parties, if that is firm requirement from you or an event organiser was can accommodate it; but would need to agree with you an acceptable additional credit draw in light of the extra interviews that might be required and more complex approval procedure.

If you require more than 16 slides, these can be accommodated at 1 credit per slide.

We can create graphics and images for the article (see Artwork) and we can also source stock images/photography at cost.

Under our Marketing Management service we can also deliver the presentation on your behalf (at a trade event or as part of an online seminar) – see Event Speaking – and we make a recording of the presentation for you to use on your website and social media.
